Comcast Franchise Renewal Committee
The Borough of New Providence has received an application from Comcast of New Jersey, LLC seeking franchise renewal.Franchise renewal or "refranchising" is the process by which municipalities negotiate franchise agreements with their cable operators. It is the responsibility of the municipality to act as the voice of the cable subscriber and the citizens of their community to insure that the community's cable-related needs are met.
This committee, appointed by the mayor, makes recommendations to the governing body regarding the renewal of the expiring Comcast Franchise contract.

Comcast Public Hearing

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE, the Borough Council of the Borough of New Providence will hold a municipal consent hearing on Tuesday September 19, 2023 at 7:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers of the Municipal Center, 360 Elkwood Avenue, New Providence, New Jersey.
This hearing will be held for the purpose of evaluating the application of Comcast of New Jersey II, LLC for the renewal of its municipal consent to own, operate, extend, and maintain a cable television and cable communications system in the Borough of New Providence and is held in accordance with the N.J.S.A. 48:5A-23, and N.J.A.C. 14:18-11.6, and all other applicable statutory and regulatory provisions.
All interested parties are invited to attend and be heard with respect to this application. The application is on file with the Borough Clerk and can be reviewed between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday and 9:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on Fridays at the Borough Clerk's Office, 360 Elkwood Avenue, New Providence, New Jersey, or by visiting www.newprov.us
