New Jersey American Water has contracted with CRJ Contracting to replace the water main from Springfield Avenue to Central Avenue beginning on or about May 13, 2024. Affected residents and businesses should be aware that the contractor may mobilize and begin prep work about a week or two before the actual start day. This activity should have little or no impact on local traffic.
The work being performed will consist of trenching the roadway, installing new water main and water services, and milling, paving, and striping. Due to the nature of the work involved and the number of workers and machinery required, full road closure will be necessary in the area of work to optimize the safety of the work crews and the motoring public alike. To minimize the impact on local traffic, the work will be performed overnight. The road will be closed from approximately 8:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. the following morning, weather permitting. Access to residences and businesses, including deliveries and other services, in the work zone, will be allowed as much as possible.
