POOL BRIDGE REPLACEMENT
The contractor has begun the construction of the bridge in the parking lot. They are anticipating placing the temporary bridge in place in the next week and then they will begin to remove the old bridge and do any remediation to the abutments before placing the new bridge in place. We have temporarily closed the first row of parking closest to the culvert during construction, but that row will be open for parking ahead of the first home football game on Friday night.
RAILROAD CROSSINGS
We are still waiting on Tilcon, the Borough’s paving company, to submit their insurance to NJ Transit so the permit to work in the ROW can be issued. Once the permit is complete, the borough will schedule NJ Transit and Tilcon to complete the paving. The paving at these intersections will be completed in under a day once everyone is on site.
LEAF PERMITS
Residents will have three (3) options for leaf collection this fall:
- Put leaves in cans, open containers, or paper bags and place them curbside for Monday collection. Leaves, grass, brush, and garden debris are collected every Monday through December 8. (Must be placed at the curb before 5 AM)
- Have your landscaper collect leaves. Landscapers are responsible for the disposal of leaves and are not permitted to dump at the DPW. If your landscaper plans to blow leaves into the curb, they must follow the pickup schedule for your street. A permit must be purchased by the resident or landscaper.
- You may purchase a permit for $60 to have your leaves vacuumed from the curb.
Options for Purchasing Leaf Vacuuming Permit:
- Pay online
- Stop in the clerk’s office
- Call the Clerk’s office and pay by credit card over the phone at 908-665-1400 x0 (permit will be mailed to you).
Deadline for Purchasing Permit: Wednesday, November 12
REVALUATION
We met with Professional Property Appraisers this afternoon for our Revaluation kickoff meeting. The goal of the revaluation program is to update all assessments in the borough. In the next few weeks, each property will receive a letter letting the community know that field inspections will be starting. This process will include a representative of Professional Property Appraisers inspecting each property and measuring all buildings on, and improvements to, your land. If no one is available during the initial inspection, they will proceed with the exterior inspection and leave a postcard with a phone number for you to call to schedule an appointment for an interior inspection. Each of these inspectors will be wearing Khaki pants with a blue polo and possibly a blue jacket with a Professional Property Appraisers ID. At the conclusion of the revaluation, residents will be notified by mail of the assessed value established for their property. They will also be given an opportunity to discuss the new value with a representative from the appraisal company, if they desire. The Revaluation Process is revenue neutral. In other words, no additional taxes will be raised overall for the school, county, or municipality as a result of completing this process. The impact of the new assessments will not affect the property owner’s tax bill until the 2027 Tax Year.
