Community Energy Planning is the process by which communities collaboratively select and strategically implement emissions-reducing initiatives that fulfill the goals set forth in the State of New Jersey’s Energy Master Plan (EMP).  This process includes assembling a planning team of local municipal staff, elected officials, relevant municipal board and commission members, and community volunteers. The planning team assesses the municipality’s needs, seeks input from the community at large, and helps find opportunities for energy resiliency, renewable energy, and energy efficiency.

The Borough of New Providence has received a Community Energy Plan Grant, which was designed by the Office of Clean Energy Equity and provides the municipality with $10,000 in grant funds, to create the plan. The planning team is now seeking the public’s opinion.

This is where you come in!  We want to hear your opinion about how the Borough can be greener and cleaner.  What should our priorities be as a community?  Please take a few minutes to complete the Community Energy Plan Survey:

Having a Community Energy Plan in place guides many areas of development for New Providence, and allows the Borough to apply for other grants that will pay for plan objectives.  Any questions about the planning process or the survey can be directed to the Community Activities Department (908)464-4430.
