Watchung Reservation

2000 acres of undeveloped land for hiking and riding. East on I-78 to Exit 41. South on Plainfield Ave. 0.7 miles. Left on Valley Rd 4.4 miles. (The name changes to Skytop to Coles. It twists. Go straight through every intersection.) The Trailside Museum is open 1:00 to 5:00 PM daily.

Each spring, more than 4,000 cherry trees produce a panoply of blossoms – celebrated annually in a festival attracting many thousands of visitors from home and abroad. In fact, the park has the largest collection of Japanese flowering trees in one location in the United States.
